Savusavu Community Foundation volunteers have conducted a clean-up campaign in anticipation of the reopening of borders.
Group spokesperson Paul Atalifo said they have been cleaning up every week and the volunteers were treated to an ice cream after the clean-up.
“We decided to help out the community and it was six families who came together to do clean areas near the airport,” Mr Atalifo said.

“Now we have eight families with a total of 15 people as part of the drive.
“Instead of joining our group, we hope people can start cleaning up their own backyard.
“It will make the campaign a lot easier when everyone do their bit,” he said.
Mr Atalifo said Savusavu, being a tourist town, must be ready for the reopening of the border and communities should prepare for it.
The group also cleaned up the bus shelter, scrubbed and painted it.
