WAF Clears Pump Blockage in Sigatoka Town

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has successfully cleared rags that were causing a pump blockage in Sigatoka Town.
This was confirmed by WAF corporate communications officer Peni Shute yesterday.
The issue was initially raised by Sigatoka businessman Rajeshwar Sharma concerning sewage overflow into drains, ultimately leading to the river.

Mr Sharma chose to raise his concerns through the media, describing it as an ongoing problem.

Mr Shute explained that the overflow was due to a pump blockage at Mission Road WWPS. He said the WAF team removed the pump and cleared the blockage on Monday morning.
“The blockage was caused by rags,” he added.
Attempts to contact the town council’s special administrator, Adish Naidu, for comments were unsuccessful, as he is believed to be out of the country.
