Water supply in the greater Suva and surrounding areas is expected to normalise soon, says the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF).
WAF said it had identified the cause of disruption which affected supply to thousands of consumers in the past few days.
The fault was identified along Ki St in Wailoku.
WAF has reassured those affected that repair works will not take as long as the previous repair works.
Their team has assessed the extent of damage on the washout which is connected to the raw water pipeline which supplies raw water to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.
WAF chief operating officer Seru Soderberg said apart from the multiple pinholes, the washout outlet pipe had ruptured.
Mr Soderberg said WAF personnel had been working on preparing the site to be safe because the pipes were under an overhanging concrete slab which posed a risk to the welders if it collapsed.
“Once the site is safe to access, the welders will conduct repair works on the damaged pipe,” Mr Soderberg said.
“They are hoping that the weather can hold up in the coming days.”
