About 100 wash kits were distributed to ten villages in Bua by personnel from the Provincial Office after an assessment by Wildlife Conservation Society.

Assistant Roko Tui Bua Ilaitia Sigarara said the distribution of the kits was their action plan of preparedness for when the borders open.

“We went on behalf of Wildlife Conservation Society to distribute wash kits and beekeeping boxes to the 10 villages,”Mr Sigarara said.

“Villages will benefit a lot from these wash kits as they enhance the Ministry of Health guidelines in keeping cleanliness within the homes.

“The wash kits will protect them not only from the virus by being sanitised but also from other related diseases,”he said.

Mr Sigarara said the distribution to a targeted group of villages was based on the assessment carried out by WCS.

He added that out of the targeted seven villages, three villages received double beekeeping boxes while the rest received beekeeping equipments such as beekeeping suits.

This is to help the economic growth in villages.

“Some boxes were destroyed during TC Yasa and were now replaced by WCS,” he said.

“Due to the restrictions, WCS made all the arrangements through the Provincial Office and funded the delivery of the items.”

Mr Sigarara said they’re in discussion with Catalyst Foundation for the distribution of masks to all the villages in Bua.
