Waste Management Boost

The Nasinu Town Council is moving towards achieving a sustainable environment through its Trash Boom Pilot Project.
It was launched on the weekend at a creek at Moala Settlement in Nadera in a collaboration between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Bio Energy Trash Boom.
The project involves the installation of barriers designed to capture and collect rubbish before they enter water outlets.

Nasinu Town Council special administrator chair Felix Magnus said the project would not only address immediate environmental impacts, but also foster a culture of responsibility and active participation among community members in waste management efforts.
By introducing trash booms at strategic locations, we will significantly reduce the flow of plastics and other debris into our oceans and rivers, thereby protecting marine life and preserving our natural ecosystems, he said.
