It was a video that rocked social media, young boys, barely teens, allegedly injecting drugs in broad daylight near family homes along Robertson Road in Suva.

But for residents, the footage wasn't news. It was just another day.

"Sometimes, we don't sleep well because of the fear we have for them," said one resident, who asked to remain anonymous.

"We're scared they might do something to us. We're living in our homes, but we don't feel safe."

Drugs, drunken arguments, and loud shouting have become all too common in the area, residents say.

"There are people smoking here every night, yelling through the early hours. It never stops."

The viral video may have finally tipped the scale.

It triggered a visit from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who called the situation "very serious" and promised immediate action - including increased police patrols in known hotspots like Robertson Road.

"This is not just about law enforcement," PM Rabuka said.

"It's about public health, safety, and the future of our youth."

Still, residents remain wary.

"This is our home," said another resident.

"But right now, it feels like we're prisoners in our own neighbourhood."

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirmed officers have been directed to step up patrols and clear loiterers.

Anyone caught engaging in illegal activity will be arrested, he said.

Investigations are ongoing, and police are calling on the public to come forward with any information.

Until then, families along Robertson Road continue to live behind locked doors, hoping real change isn't just a promise, but a plan in motion.
