Criminal organisations dealing in drugs, intimidation and organised crime have been put on notice, with Commander Land Forces Brigadier General Onisivoro Covunisaqa delivering a stern warning that they will be pursued and held accountable.

The warning was issued during the 2nd Quarter Land Forces Parade on Friday, May 1, where Brig-Gen Covunisaqa addressed troops and reaffirmed the Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ commitment to national security ahead of the upcoming Exercise Bougainville 2026 scheduled for August 7–28.

Brig-Gen Covunisaqa reaffirmed support for the Commander’s directive to confront criminal activity while upholding the Constitution and the laws of Fiji.

In his message, he made it clear that drug pushers, dealers and their criminal networks would be pursued.

(“To all of you who sell drugs, who imitate and enable criminal behaviour, who intimidate others, and those of you who profit from the drug trade — this message is for you. We will come for you! Under the guidance of Almighty God, we will come for you. When you are caught, you will face the wrath of the land of Fiji. You will be met by the strong arm of justice to match your actions.”)

Earlier in his address, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa assured soldiers that leadership would stand firmly beside them, pledging unconditional support as they prepare for upcoming operational demands.

He acknowledged the challenges ahead but emphasised that discipline, integrity and readiness must define their service, with Exercise Bougainville described as a critical platform to sharpen capability and maintain operational preparedness.

Reinforcing this commitment in the iTaukei language, he said: “O au kei ira na nomuni veiliutaki, keitou na tu vata kei kemuni. Nomuni tavi mo ni veiqaravi ena yalo dodonu kei na yalodina, neimami I tavi na veiliutaki me keimami maroroi kemuni kei na nomuni vuvale, ena gauna ni na gadreva kina vakalevu, ka me noda I tavi vata me da na taqomaki Viti mai vei ira era via vakarusa.”

The parade honoured the dedication of Land Forces personnel while reaffirming focus on training and readiness, with Exercise Bougainville remaining a central priority.
