Welder’s Son And Truck Driver’s Daughter Ready To Lead School

Welder’s son, Nikhil Singh says becoming the head boy of Bhawani Dayal Arya College is memorable for his family.
The school yesterday badged 101 prefects that would lead more than 800 students this year.
The 18-year-old believed that behind every challenge was a success.

“I have worked hard for this, becoming the head boy is one of my goals which I have achieved,” he said.
Nikhil said the struggles faced by his father to provide for his family motivated him to step up in life.
“My father is a foreman in Island Buses and my mum does domestic duties so seeing their struggles in raising me has pushed me to this limit, it taught me to find a solution to the problem,” the 19-year-old said.
“There is a saying that; if you are born poor, it’s not your problem, but if you die poor then it’s your problem.”
Head girl, Sneha Prasad continued her family’s leadership legacy.
Her elder sister and father were badged the head prefects of their respective schools during their time.
Sneha is proud of her achievement, especially being the youngest of five siblings.
“I feel very privileged and honoured to have this badge,” the 18-year-old said.
Motivated by her father, Sneha wants to lead the school optimistically and guide students in the right path.
She acknowledged her parents and sisters for their hard work and support.
“My father worked as a bus driver for seven years. He left his job during COVID-19 because of his health condition and is now driving a truck.
“I want to become a lawyer and look after my parents.”
Her message to students was: “Students should not be disheartened, God has made everyone different and life holds different gifts for you.”
