Wendy Wong, 19, is looking forward to joining the Fijian hospitality workforce as a beautician in the coming weeks.

The Dawasamu, Tailevu lass was part of the 30 Fiji National University (FNU) Hospitality students at Namaka Campus who were part of the careers expo organised by Warwick Fiji on the Coral Coast.

The former Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) Year 12 student is undertaking a certificate level course on hair and beauty.

“I want to work in a spa at a resort, and to support my family,” she said.

“It is true a lot have been spoken about brain drain, the onus is for us to fill in those gaps, but this is our first step to learn the works and understand the industry."

“My long-term goal is to study hard and then open my own spa business,” she said.
