West School Principal Under Radar

The principal of a prominent school in the West is under the Ministry of Education radar.
It follows claims of the principal's failure to carry out due diligence and report alleged illegal activities that happened on the school premises.
Permanent Secretary of Education Selina Kuruleca confirmed receiving the complaints.

The allegations came to light after an email from the complainant, who is said to be a concerned parent and former student.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka was included in the email together with the Minister for Education, Viliame Gavoka and Ms Kuruleca. In response, Mr Rabuka requested the ministry to investigate the matter.

A copy of the complaint was obtained by the Fiji Sun where the complainant, who is a member of the Old Scholars Association Committee, called on the removal of the principal.
When contacted yesterday, the principal in question denied all allegations.
The principal had filed a Police report against the complainant for defamation of character.
The principal’s legal team is likely to file defamation claims against the complainant at the Lautoka High Court today.
Denying all allegations, the principal said: “That is very false information made against me.”
“It is very defamatory, the report is coming from a parent who is also an old scholar, and it is sad that this is being done to ruin one’s reputation.”
