People’s Alliance will be launched soon and followed by a general convention, says party leader Sitiveni Rabuka.
It comes as the newly registered party was approved by Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem yesterday.
In an interview, Mr Rabuka said the dates for these major events will be made known to the public at the right time.

“We are one and no one will be called in to vote along ethnic lines,” said Sitiveni Rabuka as the People’s Alliance was registered as Fiji’s latest political party.
Mr Rabuka said by now people and parties should know that multiculturalism was the way because the Constitution was about that.
“The office bearers were those who were already thinking alike and in harmony with what I had in mind. When we get to the convention, these are people who I have confidence in,” he said.
The 2022 General Election dates are yet to be confirmed; however, they must happen between July next year and January 2023.
Mr Rabuka said they were yet to confirm or even look at candidates for the election despite the numerous speculations.
“We will look at that when we get a better feel of who we have. We have not appointed a selection committee,” he said.
“The selection committee will put together what we are looking for and then advertise, get the application and then have a look at what we are looking for.”
Mr Rabuka has denied any links with the SODELPA Members of Parliament who had not applied to stand under the SODELPA banner.
He said these MPs had not approached him and he would not start to assume that they were looking at joining the People’s Alliance.
Mr Saneem said they had received one objection which was dealt with and thereafter it was found that the applicant successfully furnished all the particulars required under the law and hence the party was duly registered.
The People’s Alliance became the 10th registered political party under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013. The total number of registered parties in Fiji stands at eight.
