About 10 members part of the wheelbarrow boys group based at the Lautoka Bus Station are looking forward to earn more cash during the festive season.

Group member, Tomasi Balewairiki said although the pandemic affected their operations, the boys continued to work hard to support their families.

“This pandemic has slackened down the business. We are now looking forward to the festive season to get more money and spend Christmas Day properly with our families,” he said.

Another member, Gabby Yacarere said on some days they would earn about $40 daily.

“We can get about $40 in one day otherwise $15 on slack days if there are not too many passengers coming in to Lautoka on the buses or vans,” he said.

“But during Christmas or other festive seasons we can get about $100 or even $200.”

He said the income earned would be used on Christmas shopping for the family.

Mr Yacarere said apart from being part of the wheelbarrow group of boys, he was also selling his produce like cassava, lemon and coconuts at his stall at the Lautoka Municipal Market.
