Whippy Given Green Light to Travel Abroad
Mr Sharma said Whippy would be going on business trips from March 29 to April 3 and a family trip from April 4 to 9.

Carpenter’s Fiji Limited’s managing director, Daniel Kingston Whippy, was granted permission to travel overseas.
The approval was made when he appeared alongside former National Fire Authority’s (NFA) chief executive officer, John O’Connor, at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Magistrate Seini Puamau presided over the case.

O’Connor is charged with one count of abuse of office for gain while Whippy is charged with one count of counselling the commission of the offence.
Defense lawyer Suruj Sharma made an application with the court to lift Whippy’s stop departure because he had to travel for business and personal reasons.
Mr Sharma said Whippy would be going on business trips from March 29 to April 3 and a family trip from April 4 to 9.
Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) lawyer Sera Fatafei did not object to the bail as long as he pays his $50,000 cash bail at the Court Registry and a stiff variation in his stop departure was ordered by court.

These included a laptop, phone and a few other items.
Ms Fatafei said she would check with their forensic investigators first and see if there was nothing relevant found in those gadgets, then the gadgets shall be returned to him.
Magistrate Puamau adjourned the matter to April 11 where FICAC is to file and serve the second phase of disclosures and hopefully to have the plea hearing.
