Whippy Keeps Fingers Crossed for Visa Approval

Carpenters Fiji Limited’s managing director Daniel Whippy and his lawyers are hoping that Whippy’s visa application would be approved.
This was highlighted by Whippy’s lawyer, Suruj Sharma while seeking another mention date before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Whippy, who faces abuse of office charges, is seeking variation for his bail condition as he wants to seek medical treatment in the United States of America.

His lawyers have established in court that Whippy needs an urgent stem cell operation on his knee and this procedure is only available in the U.S and India.
Mr Sharma told the court that they had made their application, however, because of the backlogging of data within the embassy that had caused the delay in their interview.
Mr Sharma has sought another mention date on November 28 as they are due for an interview on November 26 at 8am.
After considering the matter, Magistrate Hamza adjourned the date to November 29.
He said the matter would be called first before the other matters on that date.
Whippy’s bail was extended.
