Whippy Mistakenly Gifted $1K via M-Paisa

Honesty is a virtue that’s not often people’s characteristics, if honesty was a person, it’d be Jason Whippy.

On Thursday, the 28-year-old did something extraordinary.

Mr Whippy was rushing to make a deposit via his M-PAiSA for one of their staff funeral contributions.

He intended to deposit $100 so he could transfer $20 as his funeral contribution.

“I had $100 so I told her (the lady serving) $100 deposit, gave my ID, I normally do M-Paisa here maybe this would be the 10th time,” Mr Whippy said.

“So, she gave back my ID, and before I stepped out, I saw the amount, and was so so surprised.

“Without hesitation, I went back and asked her to withdraw the $1000 and just deposit me with 91 dollars.”

Mr Whippy said his hands got cold as he saw his balance.

He said the $1000 that was mistakenly deposited could stand as a temptation for many, but he was grateful classic virtues prevailed before he could even spend that $1000.

“Feeling satisfied at least I did something right today!” he said.

“Relief – that, at least I’m heading to 2024 knowing that I did something right and honest.”
