Widow, Sangeeta Devi, is about to bring her late husband’s dream to life.

Thanks to a loan from Government’s COVID-19 Concessional Financial Support Package for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Ms Devi will officially open a mini mart shop in her husband’s name on November 9.

Ms Devi, 50, said she got to know about the loans through social media. She received $10,000 in the loan on September 10 and plans to open the mini mart, which is located at Chusan Street off Balawa Road in Lautoka.

She had to close her Haveli Fine Indian Restaurant in Suva and move to Lautoka to fulfil her husband’s dream.

She said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant business had suffered.

“It was my husband’s dream to open a grocery shop and now I’m opening a shop by his name – Kumar’s Best Deals Mini Mart PTE LTD,” she said.

“I thank the Government for helping us from the loan package, it was such a relief for my business,” Ms Devi said.

“My daughter has been motivating me and is with me looking after the business.”

Ms Devi hopes to implement more ideas into her restaurant by developing a coffee area and ice cream parlors for customers to come in and relax.
