Ulamila Ranadi, discovered yesterday that her husband, the late Rupeni Savubale, had no funds under his name in the Fiji National Provident Fund.

The discovery gave her more grief as she mourned his death.

Mr Savubale, 46, collapsed and died while on duty at the Tebara Plaza in Nakasi, Nasinu on Monday.

The mother of four children, who works as a house maid, said she would now be carrying all the family load by herself.

“I miss my husband,” she said.

“Thank you to all those, who tried to help him on that day and if only the nearest doctor spared a minute, it might have made a difference.”

The late Mr Savubale was a former employee of a security service company before he resigned and was employed by Tebara Plaza as its security officer for more than a week now.

Ms Ranadi claimed that all hopes of getting her husband’s FNPF refund yesterday turned into disappointment when she was told that there wasn’t any deduction made under his name and account.

She said that she presented her late husband’s joint card, but was told by the FNPF officer that there was nothing in the account.

“They told me to return tomorrow (today) with a pay slip,” she said.

The security company said it would comment later on the issue.

“My husband was a very hardworking man and he provided us with the best he could get,” she said.

He left behind his four children aged 15, 10, eight and six.

The family lives at Nakasi.

FNPF chief executive officer Jaoji Koroi said he would look into the issue and comment later.
