Will the Great Council of Chiefs be fair and neutral to all races?

Rev Shalendra Kumar asked this question to the GCC Review Team yesterday.

The GCC consultation at True Blue Hotel in Sigatoka attracted more than 80 traditional representatives from Nadroga-Navosa and a few representatives from other ethnic groups.

Rev Kumar, the District Advisory Council chairman said every government and authority is established by God, and therefore, the word of God requires submission to their authorities.

Rev Kumar drew his question from the Bible, asking whether the re-established GCC would be fair and neutral to all races.

“I believe in God who is fair and just.”

Jacob Pu’u, a representative from the Rotuman community, expressed gratitude for being included as part of the Vanua of Navosa.

“I think the main pillars of the GCC are God and the Vanua, “ he added.

Review team leader Jone Baledrokadroka said the purpose of the consultation was to provide an opportunity for all ethnic groups to share their views on the GCC.
