The Public Service Commission (PSC) has withdrawn the nomination of Pita Wise for the position of Head of Mission in Japan.

PSC chairperson, Luke Rokovada said last night the withdrawal was per the prerogative of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Mr Wise voluntarily resigned from his permanent secretary position on September 25 citing personal reasons.

Mr Rabuka has confirmed that his office received a sexual harassment allegation against Mr Wise; it was referred to the Public Service Commission.

He was tipped to replace Filimone Waqabaca who has been earmarked to be head of the Fiji Development Bank.

Last Friday, the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre and the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement called on the Coalition Government and Prime Minister Rabuka to withdraw Mr Wise’s nomination for Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan.

Mr Wise was permanent secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, a post he held since last January.

He had previously served as PS in previous administrations.
