Wives Turn To Government For Help

Some wives of men working under the seasonal worker schemes are forced to apply for the Government’s social welfare assistance, because of their husband’s failure to provide for their family.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya, made the comment in an interview during the grant awards spotlight event hosted by the USAID at the Holiday Inn, Suva.

Ms Tabuya said this was a huge concern and a challenge for the ministry and stakeholders involved.
