Woman dies after 10 days in ICU following alleged assault

A 62-year-old woman has died after sustaining injuries in an alleged assault at her home in Tabataba, Ba.

The victim, Annandi Devi of Raviravi, Ba, died last Friday after spending 10 days in the Intensive Care Unit, police said.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed Ms Devi was hospitalised following the alleged assault on December 2.

Police had earlier confirmed that a 17-year-old boy was charged with one count of attempted murder in relation to the incident. He has been remanded in custody, and the matter is scheduled to be called on December 23 at the Ba High Court.

Ms Devi’s eldest son, Ritu Ritesh Ram, described his mother as a devoted and loving parent.

“My mother was a caring woman of quiet strength and grace,” he said.
