A woman remains in critical condition at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital following a head-on collision in Pacific Harbour early this morning that left three people injured.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the woman was the wife of the alleged suspect driver, who is believed to have lost control of his vehicle before veering into the opposite lane.

“Both drivers are in stable condition,” Ms Naisoro said on Friday.

“The suspect’s wife was, however, transferred to CWM Hospital as she remains in critical condition.”

The two drivers and a passenger were initially rushed to Navua Hospital after the crash.

Due to the severity of her injuries, the suspect’s wife was later transferred to CWM Hospital in Suva for further treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

The incident comes as authorities intensify efforts to curb reckless driving, following a 25 per cent increase in road fatalities last year.

Road deaths rose to 83 by the end of 2025, compared with 66 in 2024.
