Women Training Programme Launched

The Almanah Hope Centre’s 2019 Women's Empowerment Training Programme was launched by the Divisional Women's Interest Officer Western Makereta Naisau at Teidamu, Lautoka recently.
Ms Naisau, in her address, said women were the key to sustainable development and quality of life in the family.
“The mother is the central personality of the home and the family circle – whereby all members turn to sympathy, understanding, support and recognition. Women are one of the vulnerable groups in society,” she said.

She said women were very important, be it in the home, society or nation as a whole.
Ms Makareta praised the work being done by Lifebread Stay Connected Foundation Fiji in running the Almanah Hope Centre for Disadvantaged Widows and Women.
She said the Centre was one of two organisations in the western division which had benefited from a Government grant in the empowerment of women.
The first group of 15 participants began their 18 weeks course while 50 women will be undertaking the Empowerment training at the Al- manah Hope Centre over the next few months.
Almanah Hope Centre’s Chairperson Sabrina Iqbal Khan said an initiative like this not only empowered women but also prepared them to be self-sufficient.
