Thousands of women gathered at the FMF National Gymnasium during the Methodist Church's 190th Conference to hear Deaconess Temalesi Makutu speak on living a godly and spiritual life. Deaconess Makutu encouraged the women to focus on doing God's will and living in obedience to Him.

"We need to do what God wants," she said.

"Obedience is very important, especially for someone who is called and chosen by God."

Though not a soldier or army leader, Deaconess Makutu said she felt called by God to live a life of faith. She explained that being godly means taking your faith seriously and putting God at the centre of everything you do.

"You can't just say you're religious without making God the most important part of your life," she said.

Quoting the Bible, she reminded the women that God made people in His image. That means, she added, when people look at godly women, they should see a reflection of God.

"When the world wants to see God, they should be able to see Him in you," she said.

"Take it seriously-you are a reflection of God."

She also spoke about building a close relationship with Jesus, saying being "married to Christ" means staying faithful to Him, like a bride is to her husband.

"I'm not saying you should leave your husbands," she added with a smile.

"But there are things in life that can pull us away from our love for Jesus."

Deaconess Makutu urged women to live as true examples of faith, especially when spirituality is under challenge.

She cited Proverbs 31, which teaches that a good woman lives with honesty and fears God.

"Try your best every day to do what pleases God," she said.
