Yavala ready to serve with honour, respect

Best Disciplined recruit, Inia Yavala, is determined to execute his duties as a Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) officer with dignity.
After completing his secondary education at an all-boys’ institution, Mr Yavala, 23 set his sights on becoming a corrections officer one day.
Yesterday, his dreams were realised when he earned both the badge of a FCS officer and the honour of being named the Best Disciplined recruit.

Mr Yavala of Namuka, Lau shared that the high expectations placed on him pushed him to go above and beyond during the 14 weeks of training.
“It wasn’t easy at first, trying to keep up with the training and other requirements, but with the support of my family and friends within the force, I was able to pull through,” Mr Yavala said.
“The struggle to stay fit and maintain discipline was not an easy task, but I kept my focus, knowing we had to perform.”
In the batch of the 64 recruits, Mr Yavala and his close friends maintained a strong work ethic.
He believes that working in the corrections service allows individuals to contribute directly to the community by ensuring the rehabilitation of offenders and supporting public safety.
“It can be a fulfilling job for those who want to make a positive difference in society,” he said.
“For individuals who value discipline, structure, and serving the public, working in the corrections service offers a sense of pride and job satisfaction, knowing that you’re helping with offender rehabilitation and maintaining public order.”
