The Providing Young Generation Movement in Every Society (PYGMIES) youth club of Natokowaqa, Lautoka, has pledged its support to the FijiFirst Government.

PYGMIES founder and president, Josateki Labalaba, said this was because the FijiFirst Government provided youth members with jobs to support their families.

Mr Labalaba said most of the youths came from unfortunate families and humble beginnings and this prompted them to go against the law.

But through the Government’s help, youths were able to move away from crime and earn a decent living, he said.

“Most of us are employed with the Fiji Sugar Corporation, other youths work elsewhere,” said Mr Labalaba.

He said windows of opportunities began to open up for them.

He said Natokowaqa was known as the hub for crimes.

“We were in the red zone area then, with the assistance from the Government, the youths first started with helping the old people and the sick, they began going to work and we could see that families were happy,” he added.

“The FijiFirst Government provided answers to our problems and we will continue to support them in the upcoming 2022 General Election.”

The PYGMIES group was formed in 2015.
