The age of the youngest victim or survivor continues to be under five years.

The youngest perpetrator of rape in Fiji last year was an 11-year-old.
This is based on a study carried out by the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement (FWRM) on sexual violence against women and girls, rape case analysis for 2021.
The study said of the 22 rape cases that were decided in the High Court of Fiji, 64 per cent of the survivors knew the accused.

In most cases, where there was a domestic relationship between the perpetrator and the survivor, the study said a permanent restraining order was not issued for the protection of the survivor.
“Highest sentence delivered was a life sentence."
“There were five acquittals and two accused found guilty of lesser charges,” the FWRM revealed.
“The average age of the perpetrator has been between the ages of 34 to 39 in the period from 2016 to 2019, however, this has decreased to 25 in 2020."
“In 2021, the average age has gone up to 36 years old.”
The study said the youngest victim was a three-year-old.
The average age of the victim or survivor has been under the age of 17 for the period of 2016 to 2021.
The age of the youngest victim or survivor continues to be under five years.
