Kamil Muslim College Best Vocational student Zoya Shazmin Nisha was one of six students to have graduated from the vocational programme.

The 18-year-old received a $200 shopping voucher from Jack’s of Fiji and a uniform set from the school.

“I’m really excited that I was given this award by Kamil Muslim College and I will try to go further to study to maybe become a chef,” she said.

Her vocational cookery programme is for one year and covered all facets of her dream career.

“It’s a different feeling when you are up there receiving your award, but it feels like all your hard work and sacrifice was worth it and I don’t have a specific skill that I favour because I like cooking. Next year I plan to go to USP,” she said.

Her father Tazim Ali, 42, said he was grateful that his daughter could enjoy the fruits of her labour.

“I feel very good and she has made us proud today because she is the oldest in the family and will be a good example to the two young ones at home,” he said.
