Get Elections Information From The Right People, Maharaj Tells

To clarify any information regarding the electoral system, you must contact the right people, says Alvick Maharaj.
The Parliament Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights chairperson referred to inaccurate information of the 2018 General Election circulating within the northern community.
Mr Maharaj said anyone willing to learn more about the electoral system, best to learn it from the Supervisor of Elections, Electoral Commission or the Standing Committee on Justice Law and Human Rights.

“People are not worried about the political parties, what they are mostly concerned about is how to vote, where to vote, whom to vote and to ensure that their votes are valid.”
Mr Maharaj said generally the response has been really good in the Northern Division.
“We’re here on a neutral basis, committee is neutral, and it is not biased on anything as we basically talk on facts,” Mr Maharaj said.
“People are appreciative of the fact that the parliamentary committee is coming out and clarifying information,” he said.
The committee will conduct consultations in Taveuni today starting at 11am in Vuna and 5pm in Somosomo.
