Newly appointed president of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), Ratu Josefa Dimuri believes there is a lot of work to be done ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Ratu Josefa, a former government minister, was appointed acting president during the Annual General Meeting in 2024.
He previously held the position of vice-president and was confirmed on Saturday following unanimous support.

While welcoming the new position, Ratu Josefa echoed the party’s motto that although it had received criticisms, it continued to improve and excel.
“The party has been criticised and we need to listen to those critics,” he said.
“They have their concerns, and we need to address them with care because they have expectations.
“I have very high hopes that we will come out very well at the end of the 2026 General Election. We have leadership, we have the support, and we have done very well so far.”
Ratu Josefa said he now had to ensure there was balance party policies, supporters and members.
“We need to separate the issues that Government needs to address and those that needs to be addressed by the party, but there must be a connection between the party as the leading party in the coalition Government and its members and that that connection is firm.”
