Fiji now has nine registered political parties after the Registrar of Political Parties approved the registration of the NeXTGEN Alliance Party (NGAP).

Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa confirmed that NGAP had met all legal requirements for registration under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.

The registration follows the completion of the application process, during which no objections were lodged against the party's application.

With its registration approved, NGAP is now required to comply with all statutory obligations that apply to registered political parties, including submitting the required declarations and disclosures within the prescribed timeframes.

The Registrar said the approval of NGAP's application increased the total number of registered political parties in Fiji to nine.
