A proposed political party promising stronger youth representation, the NextGen Alliance Party, has formally submitted its application for registration with the Fijian Elections Office (FEO).
The FEO confirmed that the application was lodged today, Friday 21 November 2025, with Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa.
Ms Mataiciwa said the FEO would now prepare to publish the party’s application in a newspaper and in the Gazette, as required under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013. The publication will trigger the official objections period.

“During the objections period, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the party’s application for registration. The FEO will assess and respond to all objections within seven (7) days of receipt after giving the proposed party an opportunity to respond and afterwards inform both the objectors and the applicant party of its decision,” said Ms Mataiciwa.
Once this process is completed, the proposed party will be informed whether its registration has been approved or rejected, following a full compliance check under the 2013 Act.
The FEO reiterated its commitment to transparency and public participation in the political party registration process, saying this ensures all proposed parties meet legal requirements and that the public has a meaningful opportunity to engage.
