'Not an election strategy' - Rabuka on Cabinet reshuffle

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has downplayed claims that the decision to reshuffle Cabinet is a strategy for the next general election.

“We just want to make sure that we are doing what we said we would do. We have been delayed in some areas, for example changes in law ... but now we have ministers devoted to their new portfolios.

“Looking at how we have done in the last three years, two years since the last reshuffle, we think we can do better.”
In a statement released on the Fiji Government Facebook page, Mr Rabuka said the changes were crucial as they entered their fourth year of governance. He added Government remained steadfast in their commitment to the nation.
The Prime Minister has also slammed public criticisms on the Cabinet reshuffle, reiterating the existence of a leadership structure led by his coalition Government.
