Fijians have seven days from publication dates to object to two proposed political parties seeking registration ahead of next year’s general election.
Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa reminded the public that objections to People First and NextGen Alliance Party applications must be submitted in writing if they believe requirements are not met.
“You have a seven days objection period from the date of publication,” Ms Mataiciwa said.

The objection period for People First ends on December 10, while NextGen Alliance Party’s deadline is December 11.
Citizens reviewing the applications can raise objections if they feel the parties do not comply with Section 6 or Section 8 of the Political Parties Act.
“If you feel if you've perused the application and if you feel that it is not aligned to Section 6 or Section 8 of the Political Parties Act, please feel free to put on your objection in writing and submit it to our office in Toorak to the Registrar of Political Parties,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
The signatures and registration details for both proposed parties have been published in the Fiji Sun this week for public scrutiny.
Once the objection period closes, the Fijian Elections Office will determine whether the proposed parties meet the registration requirements, taking into account any objections received during the seven-day period.
Ms Mataiciwa said the office would only make a determination after considering any objections received during the seven-day period.
