The People’s Alliance Party has confirmed that a list circulating on social media, purportedly naming individuals who have applied to be party candidates, is the subject of an internal investigation, warning it will not tolerate indiscipline or the leaking of confidential information.
In a statement, party general secretary Sila Balawa said the candidate application and selection process was a confidential internal matter governed by the People’s Alliance Party Constitution, and that any unauthorised disclosure constituted a serious breach of party discipline.
Mr Balawa said internal processes had already been initiated to identify the source of the leak and determine responsibility, in line with constitutional provisions that allow for the investigation and management of misconduct.
