The newly formed People’s First Party is positioning itself as a multiracial political platform, aiming to continue the inclusive approach previously promoted by FijiFirst.

Member of Parliament Semi Koroilavesau, who assisted in the party’s formation, said it was created to provide an alternative political space grounded in multiracial representation.

Koroilavesau said the party was “riding on the platform of multiracialism”, describing it as a central objective during its establishment and one he hoped it would continue to advance.

While supporters have encouraged him to contest the next general election under the new banner, Koroilavesau said he had already made a personal decision about his political future and might not stand, choosing instead to support the party’s broader direction.

He said the party’s success would depend on how effectively it carries forward its multiracial platform and builds national support ahead of the next election.
