PM Says Rabuka Should Be Jailed For November 2, 2000

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stood in Parliament yesterday pointed at Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka saying he should be jailed for what he did on November 2, 2000.
Despite being cleared of mutiny charges, there were allegations about why Mr Rabuka was at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks at the height of the event when Mr Bainimarama was the Commander.
At this time, four soldiers were murdered with the then RFMF Commander Bainimarama also being one of the targets.

Mr Bainimarama made the remarks as he pointed out the urgency in getting the COVID-19 Response Budget passed.
“I don’t think many on that side of Parliament really appreciate just how important it is that we get this Budget over the line,” he said.
“I think some of us in this Chamber seriously do not realise what is happening around the world right now, and just how bad things are going to get.”
