People’s Alliance (PA) party leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will continue to lead the party until 2026, secretary-general Sila Balawa has confirmed.

Mr Balawa said Mr Rabuka’s leadership was endorsed at last year’s AGM in Lautoka, where members agreed that the current executives should remain in office until the next general election.

“It was endorsed last year that for continuity, the current executives will continue until the next election. The party leader will take the party into 2026,” Mr Balawa said.

He said while Mr Rabuka has committed to leading the party until then, he has also encouraged younger Members of Parliament to prepare for future leadership roles.

“The party leader has expressed his desire to see new leaders step up — especially MPs who can take over both the party leadership and possibly the prime ministership. He would welcome that,” Mr Balawa said.

He added that Mr Rabuka remains confident in his team and is focused on mentoring potential successors.

“It’s up to our MPs to perform up to expectations. After 2026, he would like to see people around him that he can be confident handing the party to,” Mr Balawa said.
