Rabuka to visit India, set for talks with PM Modi

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will travel to India this weekend where he is scheduled to meet with his counterpart, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr Rabuka, accompanied by his wife Sulueti Rabuka, Minister for Health Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu and senior officials, will be in New Delhi from August 24–26.

The highlight of the visit will be bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi on August 25, followed by a lunch hosted in Mr Rabuka’s honour.

He will also pay a courtesy call on India’s President, who visited Fiji in August last year.

While in New Delhi, Mr Rabuka will deliver a keynote address on “Ocean of Peace” at the Indian Council of World Affairs.

The visit, announced by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, is being described as a reaffirmation of the “longstanding and enduring ties” between the two nations, with both leaders expected to push for deeper cooperation across health, trade, and people-to-people links.
