Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has acknowledged concerns raised by both former and current youth members of The People’s Alliance (PA).

Mr Rabuka who is also the party leader said young members are free to approach party leadership at any time.

Responding to questions on whether the party plans to create a more structured platform for youths to engage in discussions, Mr Rabuka said the mechanisms existed in the party, but communication issues may have hindered participation.

“They can come at any time,” Mr Rabuka said.

“They have their organisation. We have a youth representative on. In fact, they were called to give their report at the general meeting, or general assembly.”

However, he said no report was received from the youth wing during the recent general assembly, raising questions about whether the group had held its own meeting prior to the national event.

“It’s a question of whether they were given enough notice or not. They have to communicate that to me whether the party secretariat gave them the same notice as other divisional groups.”

The remarks came amid increasing calls from some youth members for stronger representation and better coordination within the party structure.

Mr Rabuka reiterated that the party values youth involvement and encouraged young members to take a proactive role in party matters to ensure their voices are heard.
