The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) is calling on young Fijians and aspiring candidates to join the party as it prepares for the 2026 General Election.

Party leader and Education Minister Aseri Radrodro issued the invitation during the launch of SODELPA’s revamped website last Friday at the party’s McGregor Road headquarters in Suva.

“As the current party leader for SODELPA, I think this is an indication that for every aspiring candidate, every aspiring youth, this is an opportunity for you to join our party,” Mr Radrodro told this masthead.

“SODELPA gives opportunity to everybody, provides opportunity to every other candidate.”

The next general election must be held between June 24, 2026 and February 6, 2027.

SODELPA holds three seats in Parliament as part of the Coalition Government with the People’s Alliance Party (PAP)and National Federation Party (NFP).

Fiji’s youngest party leader, Mr Radrodro, says his leadership demonstrates the party’s commitment in providing opportunities for young people.

“The management board decides the decision for party leadership according to the criteria of the constitution,” he said.

“We would like to invite all those who are out there to be part of SODELPA as we prepare for 2026, including youths.”

The party will hold its Youth Annual General Meeting on November 8 at FTA (Fijian Teachers Association) Hall from 10am to 1pm.

Mr Radrodro also confirmed that interest from potential candidates was growing.

“Interests are coming in to SODELPA. Some prefer not to be revealed, while some prefer to hold on to their interest until they think it fit and proper to show their expression of interest,” he said.
