The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has announced plans to field more young candidates in the upcoming general election.

This is part of its renewed commitment to youth participation and leadership development within the party.

Party leader Aseri Radrodro said the move represented a “new dimension” in SODELPA’s political direction, emphasising inclusivity and the importance of giving young people a stronger voice in decision-making processes.

“We are trying to allow them to be part of the decision-making within the party,” Mr Radrodro said.

“We would like them to come forward, be part of the SODELPA team for the next general election, and ensure that those who are willing can raise their hands and participate.”

He said the recent appointment of SODELPA youth wing officials marked an important first step toward greater youth involvement in the party’s internal structures.

“They will now be represented on the management board and in strategic decision-making for the party. We will involve and hear them in everything that we do.”

Mr Radrodro said many of the coalition Government’s policies reflected the priorities and aspirations of young people. These include initiatives such as vocational education training, employment pathway programmes, and the ongoing review of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS).

He said these measures were part of a broader effort to empower youths and ensure their active contribution to national development and the political landscape.
