Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka has dismissed claims of division within the three-party coalition Government, saying it “stands on solid ground”.

The removal of Deputy Prime Ministers Manoa Kamikamica and Biman Prasad within a week has raised public concern and sparked questions about the Government’s unity and transparency.

Political commentators have speculated whether the coalition partners are now focused on their own interests ahead of the 2026 General Election.

“It is timely that I do my part in the coalition to reassure the people that the coalition is on solid ground,” Mr Gavoka said.

“The unity of the coalition is strong as ever, and capable people are running the affairs of the country,” he added.

Mr Gavoka said both Mr Kamikamica and Mr Prasad, although no longer in Cabinet, would continue to attend caucus meetings and offer their advice in the lead-up to the next election.

Mr Kamikamica resigned on October 22 after being charged with perjury and providing false information to a public servant by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

Mr Prasad resigned on October 28 after being charged by FICAC for allegedly failing to declare a company directorship under the Political Parties Act.

Mr Gavoka said life in Fiji remained among the best in the region and the coalition was committed to maintaining peace, freedom, and unity.
