Promoter Samir Khan has kept his promise to boxing fans by staging two fights from his previous programme for free.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Khan said the event would take place at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on May 22 before his main programme gets underway on May 23.
On September 27, last year, Khan’s Bluewater Promotions had their programme stopped by Police since it had gone past the allocated time.
At that stage the main supporting bout between Bryan Roberts and Kolinio Luvelolo had just started. The main bout was between Alivereti Kauyaca and Savenaca Naliva. Khan, then promised fans of staging these two fights on a later date for free.
“We’ll stage the two free fights on May 22 as I had promised last year in Nadi. It was due to permit issues, we were unable to complete them,” he said. The opening day will run from 4pm to 6pm, with gates opening at 3pm.
Khan said bouts would include Kauyaca versus Naliva while Luvelolo is expected to feature against an opponent, which is yet to be confirmed. The main event is set for May 23, which will feature 15 fights— five youth development bouts and 10 professional contests.
“The tickets will be very reasonable. The fights start at 4pm and will finish at 11pm. We have top boxers on the card,” Khan said.
Other fights:
- Mikaele Ravolaca v Kaliova Tahikiya;
- Poasa Tuimaba v Simon Mario;
- Aisea Naicovu vs Fredrick Chand (79kg);
- Zulfikar Ali v Ronesh Prasad;
- Naden Keanu v Jonasa Kavika (heavyweight);
- James Singh v Sainavali Ratu (heavyweight).
