Kwadjo wants 10-round showdown with heavyweight champion Semi Dauloloma

Former lightweight and cruiserweight champion Joseph Kwadjo has challenged Fiji heavyweight champion Semi Dauloloma after making a winning debut in the heavyweight division at Kings Boxing Promotion in Suva last Saturday.

Kwadjo defeated Kimo Vakalalabure at the Vodafone Arena and said he now wanted to test himself against the country's top heavyweight in a 10-round contest.

"I want to fight Semi because he's the champion. I'm not chasing the title; I just want to fight him in the best contest possible over 10 rounds to see where I stand and what I'm capable of," Kwadjo said.

The veteran boxer admitted he did not expect to win in his first heavyweight bout but credited his experience, ring IQ and technical ability for the victory over Vakalalabure.

"I wasn't expecting to win because this was my first fight as a heavyweight. I believe my fighting IQ and skills made the difference against Vakalalabure," he said.

Kwadjo said his move to the heavyweight division had given him renewed motivation and he was eager to test himself against the country's best.

He also thanked God, his coaches, teammates, sponsors and supporters for their continued support throughout his boxing career.

"I'd like to thank God, my team, my coaches and my boxing academy for always supporting me. Boxing is a hard job, and we help each other.

"I also want to thank everyone who came to support the event, the promoter, the sponsors, especially Mr Ali and those who support me without wanting recognition. I really appreciate it, and every time I step into the ring, I'll fight for them."
