Upcoming heavyweight boxer Sainivalati Ratu could be soon fighting for the Fiji title, if he gets his way on July 25.
Ratu takes on Fiji heavyweight champion Semi ‘Equaliser’ Dauloloma in a six-round contest fight under the Kings Boxing Promotions at Suva’s Vodafone Arena.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Buksh said Ratu would be entitled to challenge the Fiji heavyweight title if he upsets Dauloloma.

“The fight is going to be a cracker,” Buksh said after Ratu had already beaten former Fiji heavyweight champion James ‘The Beast’ Singh on points at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, in June.
“Ratu is young and fit, while Dauloloma has the advantage in height, reach and experience. It should be a very good contest,” Singh said.
“If Ratu wins, he could earn a title shot against Dauloloma in a rematch.”
In another heavyweight contest sees former cruiserweight champion Joseph Kwadjo taking on Kimo Vakalalabure.
“I think the winner of that fight could also challenge Dauloloma for the title, so the heavyweight division is shaping up to be very interesting,” Buksh said.
He said all bouts on the card has been carefully matched according to the boxer’s rankings and abilities.
“We’ve put together some exciting contests and I’m confident fans will enjoy the programme.”
Buksh said preparations for the event are progressing well.
“Logistics, promotion and all other preparations are on track. We are looking forward to a good turnout.”
He also confirmed that Aisea Naicovu has been suspended by the Boxing Commission Fiji (BCF) and would not be fighting.
“We were not informed of the suspension before the programme was released. Amandeep Singh of India has replaced Naicovu and will fight Aditya Narayan in a six-round contest.”
Buksh reiterated the need for boxing fans to come out in big numbers to support the event.
“I encourage boxing fans to come and witness what promises to be an exciting night of boxing, including the much-anticipated contest between Fiji’s Mikaele Ravalaca and Rohit Chauhan of India.”
