Singh Deserves An Apology

The quicker the Boxing Com­mission of Fiji directors get their acts together in secur­ing the Fiji heavyweight title from somewhere and presenting it to James ‘The Beast’ Singh, the bet­ter it is for the sport.

There’s no need for the blame- game with the promoter or trying to figure out what happened.

The damage has been done.

The longer it takes for the BCF ex­ecutives will only tarnish the good works they have been doing so far.

Singh had worked hard for months to win the title.

And his name is now etched with our heavyweight greats like Leweni Waqa, Filimoni Naliva, Sunia Cana, Niko Degei, Luke Tui, Frank Atu and Mosese Kavika.

He also deserved an apology from the BCF officials for the muck-up.

The incident of having no title on fight day had taken the limelight away from Singh on what was sup­posed to be his night of glory.

There’s nothing wrong for BCF executives to be apologetic of what had happened.

In fact, it will give them more re­spect as they are able to admit their fault and by the way that is life- as no one is perfect in this world.

So with Cyclone Yasa out of the way, let’s make it happen and give ‘The Beast’ the title he deserves so he could celebrate it in style come Christmas Day.

This is the only way to go if box­ing in the country is to grow to new heights in 2021.
