Zeg Promotions has signed a new partnership deal with Mai TV to broadcast live all the boxing matches from their March 28 programme at Suva’s Vodafone Arena.

Speaking to SUNsports, Zegs Promotion managing director Alfaaz Mallam said that it was their first solo promotion, even though they had been sponsors in the past.

“We chose to go with Mai TV on this occasion because Mai TV also hasn’t done any pay per view for boxing,” he said.

“So, I thought its best that we give them the chance and the opportunity to prove themselves.”

Mallam said at the same time they had given some boxers the opportunity to come back and prove themselves.

“This is because we believe that if we don’t give anyone a chance, they would never be able to prove themselves.”

Mai TV director Stanley Simpson said they are doing their first boxing pay per view.

“I think it’s a good challenge and like all the boxers that step into the ring, we are ready to step into the ring in this field. This is because it’s so great to see the revival of boxing in this country,” he said.

Simpson said that they had already done a pay per view for the Fiji Football Association with the Battle of the Giants, Fiji FACT and the IDC. And it has proven successful

“We are very proud and honoured to partner with Zeg Investments.”

Boxing Commission of Fiji chairman Adi Narayan said he would like to congratulate Mai TV and Zeg Promotion.

“This is the first time Mai TV is coming on board to help professional boxing in Fiji,” he said.

Narayan said that he is grateful for the signing done by Mai TV and Zeg Promotions.

“Now regarding this programme, I’m very happy to say Alfaaz has reached out to top boxers in India and Asia, which is very encouraging. We’re talking about development of boxing in the country,” he added.
