Burger King Fiji backs Skipper XV for historic pre-season clash with Fijian Drua

Burger King Fiji has strengthened its partnership with Fiji Rugby by signing on as Associate Sponsor of the Skipper XV for a landmark warm-up match against the Fijian Drua.
The highly anticipated fixture, set for February 6, will feature the nation’s top provincial players, selected from the 2025 Skipper Cup competition, taking on the professional Fijian Drua side in what promises to be a major pre-season highlight for local rugby fans.
As part of the sponsorship deal, Burger King Fiji branding will appear on both sleeves of the Skipper XV jersey, giving the fast-food chain prominent visibility during the historic match.

Burger King Fiji general manager Kavinesh Reddy said the company is proud to continue supporting a sport that is central to Fiji’s identity.
“Rugby is an integral part of Fiji’s national identity, and Burger King Fiji remains firmly committed to supporting Fiji Rugby and the continued development of the sport at all levels,” Mr Reddy said.
“Our decision to support the Skipper XV in this landmark fixture against the Fijian Drua reflects the strength of our partnership with Fiji Rugby and our confidence in the depth and quality of local rugby talent.”
Fiji Rugby chief executive officer Koli Sewabu welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in domestic competitions.
“We are extremely grateful for Burger King Fiji’s ongoing commitment to Fiji Rugby and are proud to see them deepen that partnership by backing the Skipper XV for this historic match against the Fijian Drua,” Mr Sewabu said.
“This partnership reflects strong corporate confidence in our domestic game and in the player pathways that continue to produce world-class talent for Fiji.”
Mr Sewabu emphasized that the Skipper Cup remains the foundation of Fiji’s rugby system, playing a critical role in player development and high-performance pathways.
“With partners like Burger King Fiji, we can continue to strengthen opportunities for our players and deliver world-class events for our fans,” he said.
The February 6 clash will mark the first time the Fijian Drua face a locally selected side in a formal pre-season match, further elevating the status of the Skipper Cup within Fiji’s rugby landscape.
Fiji Rugby Union acknowledged and thanked Burger King Fiji for its continued investment in the local game and its support of domestic rugby development.
