There is no plan to remove Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne.

This was told to SUNsports yesterday by Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) board chairman John Sanday.

The former Flying Fijians No.8 also denied that there are certain elements within Rugby House who could be trying to cause disruption.

“That is not the kind of work environment I tolerate,” Sanday said.

“We want stability and proper process be the standard. The currency of trust in our processes and its transparency is the gold standard in governance we are trying to build as our new corporate culture.”

He stressed the importance of high performance as the number one objective under the new FRU strategic plan.

Sanday said that is the reason why they want everything reviewed so that it is align with the new strategic plan.

“What can I say, everyone (including Byrne) in the organisation undergoes an annual review, like any organisation. The annual performance review also applies to me and the board, all the way through the organisational structure.”

Sanday highlighted that they are waiting for a report from the FRU chief executive officer Koli Sewabu on his meeting with Byrne.

“The CEO is away in the United Kingdom to attend a World Rugby meeting plus also look over our venue and game day delivery plans for the upcoming July home games for the Rugby Championship. Upon tabling of his report and recommendation then we will decide,” he added.
